WyoGives 2026
Dear Community Supporter,
Central Wyoming Trails Alliance (CWTA) continues to grow, build, and elevate outdoor recreation across our region. As we approach WyoGives on Wednesday, July 15, I want to share how your support fuels this momentum and why this year’s campaign is so important.
Last year, our community contributed over $18,000 during WyoGives, funding critical trail construction on Casper Mountain and allowing CWTA to match additional grants that expanded recreation opportunities throughout Natrona County. Because of that generosity, we completed over six miles of new trail and invested hundreds of hours in maintenance across our most‑used systems. This year, our goal is even more ambitious: $36,000. These funds will directly support grant matches, maintenance operations, winter trail grooming, and other essential work that keeps our trails safe, sustainable, and accessible year‑round.
Our current projects reflect the scale of progress happening across central Wyoming: the Bar Nunn Bike Park is moving quickly toward a tentative soft opening on July 26, with crews shaping jump lines and refining new features daily; and the Douglas Mountain Bike Park is also advancing, with multiple jump lines nearing completion and additional elements scheduled for installation in the coming weeks.
CWTA has also secured major grant funding that will expand trail access for years to come. Through the Great Outdoors Fund, supported by Oxy, we are launching the Duncan Ranch expansion, which includes over 1.5 miles of new trail, a vault toilet, and a shade structure. Additionally, CWTA received $30,000 from the inaugural Outdoor Rec Tourism and Trust Fund, administered by the State of Wyoming, to develop new trails in Beartrap Meadow following the Natrona County Parks Master Plan. This project will begin next summer.
Looking ahead, CWTA is preparing several exciting initiatives:
A new community connector trail in south Casper in partnership with Platte River Trails
Future development of Trails West
Trail planning on Casper College property
Additional City of Casper projects
Phase III of Douglas trail development
These projects represent the next chapter of regional trail growth, and your support helps make them possible.
This year has already been productive. CWTA completed fencing at Trails West, redecked bridges on the east Casper rail trails, realigned trails at Crimson Dawn Park, and led two youth mountain bike camps with The Science Zone. We also guided the Wyoming Conservation Corps during their 10‑day hitch, completing graffiti removal, geological cable work, drainage improvements, hazard tree mitigation, and site beautification. And with our first University of Wyoming intern, we are building the next generation of trail stewards through hands-on training in sustainable trail construction, project administration, grant writing, mapping, and site evaluation.
CWTA’s mission continues to expand, and with it, our responsibility to maintain and grow the trail systems our community depends on. Your donation on July 15 through WyoGives directly supports this work by strengthening trail construction, maintenance, winter grooming, and the grant matches that multiply every dollar’s impact.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our trails. Together, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more connected outdoor future for central Wyoming.
Sincerely,
Austin Burgess
