Douglas Mountain Update

Big strides in our construction efforts! The main loop is nearly done, including multiple alternate lines to enhance the experience. In the past week, the property was fully surveyed, fence repair kicked off, and parking lot planning got underway. We're just a day away from wrapping up the main loop and two days from finishing the access switchbacks. Already, runners and mountain bikers are making great use of the space, and we’re so grateful for our partnership with the Outdoor Enthusiasts of Converse County and the City of Douglas.

Upcoming Events

  • We will be attending the Wyoming State Land forum and workshop this coming week in Laramie Wyoming. This will be held Tuesday and Wednesday (4/22-4/23).

  • Wednesday evening (4/23) we will be participating in the Earth Day Community cleanup with the City of Casper from 5:30-7:00.

  • Friday afternoon (4/25) we will presenting at the Wyoming Geological Association luncheon discussing the Cottonwood Creek Dinosaur Trail at Alcova.

  • Saturday the 26th marks our first trail building class to be held in Douglas Wyoming from 9-5. This class will focus primarily on volunteer trail building activities and stewardship.

  • This coming May 1st and 2nd we will be back in Laramie at the Outdoor Recreation Summit. We are a panslist on a discussion panel Friday morning discussing volunteerism and stewardship with some of Wyoming top outdoor recreation leaders.

Very busy days ahead will not only keep us engaged but will give us necessary tools to help grow our amazing outdoor recreation programs.

Partnership Announcement

We’re beyond excited to share that this summer, we’re partnering with the Science Zone to bring an incredible experience to young riders in our community! At the end of June and into July, we’ll be leading the highly anticipated mountain bike camp, designed to help youth develop essential biking skills, gain confidence on the trails, and dive into the fascinating science behind cycling.

This camp is more than just riding—it’s an opportunity for participants to explore the mechanics of bicycles, understand how physics plays a role in speed and control, and discover the environmental factors that impact outdoor recreation. Whether they’re new to mountain biking or looking to sharpen their abilities, campers will engage in hands-on learning, guided rides, and interactive sessions that make the experience both educational and exciting.

We can’t wait to watch young riders grow, challenge themselves, and enjoy the thrill of outdoor adventures in a supportive and engaging environment. We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the Science Zone and look forward to an unforgettable summer on the trails!

Winter’s Last Blast

This past weekend was truly amazing! Nearly 100 participants came together to enjoy a stunning spring day filled with outdoor adventure and community spirit. From cross-country skiing and biathlon to snow exploration and snowshoeing, there was something for everyone. Attendees also had the chance to learn about Leave No Trace principles, create beautiful snow art, race down sledding hills, and even meet the legendary Smokey Bear!

A huge thank you to all who volunteered and participated—your enthusiasm and support made this event a fantastic success! We can’t wait for more days like this in the future.
